Staying safe in these unprecedented times

Staying safe in these unprecedented timesCovid19 has had a devastating effect on the entire world.

As we begin to see an easing in restrictions and many workplaces starting to open their doors once again, we want to provide guidance and support on some of the best ways to sanitize commercial properties – keeping you and your employees safe.

Understanding how a virus spreads is the best way to understand how you can stop it in its tracks.

Unfortunately, however, with NCOV, the virus is spread from person to person, which is why social distancing remains in place and remains vitally important.

Coronavirus Protection

Social distancing is a big part and a way to avoid Covi-19.  And taking appropriate social distancing measures at work will help to make everyone feel much more at ease.

For example, desks could be positioned differently, plastic screens can be erected, floor markings can be used, notices in communal areas can be displayed advising people not to gather in groups, to keep their distance, etc.

Adhering to the social distancing measures of 2metres will help; however, as business owners, we should also be looking to encourage:

Washing hands often and thoroughly.  This is vitally important if you are in an office environment where your colleagues’ coughs and sneezes can be a regular occurrence!

Of course, we should be covering our face if we cough or sneeze, throw used tissues immediately into the bin (remember the catch it, kill it, bin it catchphrase?) and wash our hands afterwards for 20 seconds with soap and water.

We should also avoid contact with anyone who is sick and encourage our staff to stay home if they’re feeling unwell in any capacity.

If you are feeling unwell, it is also important not to travel on public transport, the risk to others is too great.

Also, if you have a confirmed case, you must inform your staff, customers, and cleaning team asap, who will then be able to pull together a cleaning schedule to deep clean once the premises have been closed down.

Hand sanitiser should also be made available and used as often as you feel required, covering all of your hands’ surfaces and rubbing them together until they feel completely dry.

We probably don’t realise how much we touch our faces throughout the day, but trust us, it is a lot.

We’re advised to avoid touching areas such as our eyes, nose, and mouth, especially with unwashed hands.

In some instances, it is advisable to wear a face mask.  Helping to protect others, face masks offer an additional element of protection when you find yourself in highly populated areas.

We would also recommend avoiding sharing desks, stationery, phones, etc.  This is how most common colds are spread and spread quickly, so avoid this practice at all costs.

Then comes an area that at Clear Choice, we can most certainly help you with – cleaning your office or commercial environment to the highest standard and carrying out regular cleans to keep germs at bay.

All surfaces, worktops, desks, benches, bookshelves, and more should be cleaned and disinfected daily.

This also needs to be taken further and includes cleaning of door handles, railings, stairways, light switches, phones, keyboards, faucets, toilets, and sinks.

It’s about making sure that all touchpoints are disinfected and cleaned daily, using suitable chemicals that remove germs and kill bacteria.

Ultimately, you need to instil into your teams that if a surface is dirty, clean it!  Wipe everything down before use, and make sure to keep on top of rubbish bins!

Carrying out a risk assessment and identifying key requirements will help you start a roll-out plan and a cleaning schedule that is best suited to your environment.

This plan can then be communicated with your professional cleaning teams who will work tirelessly to ensure the highest standards are met.

At Clear Choice, our team of cleaning professionals is well equipped with the appropriate NCOV protection, and experience to tackle our current situation, head-on.

We’re proud to support our customers and businesses through these challenging times, with commercial cleaning processes and commercial cleaning service in Leeds, which is second to none.
