Post-Construction Cleaning Checklist

Your renovation is done, but everything still looks like a construction site. It’s time to make a post-construction cleaning checklist that will need to be completed to get the space back up to par.

What does a post-construction cleaning include that’s different from regular cleaning? There are actually a few additional steps, especially if you’re going to make a commercial post-construction cleaning checklist, for a much more extensive renovation, construction and space.

The more planning and preparation are done, the fewer repeat cleaning will need to be done, and the faster you will also complete the entire post-construction cleaning.

Post-Construction Cleaning Checklist

What the checklist will consist of

The first component on the post-construction checklist will be to see exactly what needs to be cleaned. How many rooms and floors, are there and what the current state of each area is.

Then the after builders cleaning checklist will start to build out zones; either the kitchen is a zone, or an office is a zone, it doesn’t matter, as this is to divide the work into smaller pieces to be handled.

Then, all areas share the exact same initial checklist component of having all the construction debris taken out, such as unused materials, paint splashes, sawdust and nails that are simply lying around everywhere.

All this needs to be taken out first from all the various zones before you can do the actual cleaning. It also needs to have proper disposal practices inclusive of the commercial post-construction cleaning checklist, to avoid any types of costs and fines for improper disposal of construction debris.

Eliminating those construction labels

In construction, the tape is placed to secure areas when painting, there are decals and logos on new items such as windows, and there is a lot of writing and notifications everywhere. These are for easy labelling during construction but now require proper removal. After all the physical debris is cleaned out, it’s time to take these types of labels off properly while ensuring everything looks new and fresh.

Taking off a decal professional can be a lot harder, especially without wanting to leave any type of residue. All of this is another precursor and part of the after builders cleaning checklist before anything is even wiped down.

Clean those vents!

Another part of the post-construction cleaning checklist is that there is an astronomical amount of dust during construction, which means it will also go everywhere and get into the air ducts and vents, which need to be cleaned.

If they aren’t cleaned and aren’t part of the commercial post-construction cleaning checklist, then the cleaners will be back a few days later, as the ventilation is turned on and dust gets everywhere again.

Those floors need to be scrubbed down

All of that construction debris and dust sits on the floors, and that means, once everything is cleared out, specialised floor cleaners, sanders and buffers need to be used to clean up these floorboards.

If there’s a bathroom renovation included, then specialised equipment will be utilised for the tiles to buff out and scrub them clean. There’s nothing worse than installing new flooring and tiles, only to have them look and feel worn due to all the construction.

Now we can get to the cleaning

The site cleaning from the builders cleaning services can now begin in full swing. This portion of the after builders cleaning checklist lists every component in each room or zone and whether it’s been cleaned.

This goes down to every single corner, light, fixture, handle, desk, floor, and every item that is in the room. All of this is organised and inventoried at the beginning phase of the post-construction cleaning checklist, and then it’s simply a matter of going down that list and cleaning and sanitising each item one by one.

It’s an iterative and slow process that must be done this way to ensure that every single item is cleaned post-construction. This includes vacuuming the floor, mopping the floors, polishing the glass and mirrors, and doing a deep clean of the entire area, especially any new bathrooms, where harsher chemicals and multiple cleaning are done to really make it spotless and new.

Post-construction cleaning is truly an intensive process that requires planning and preparation, precleaning, and deep cleaning of the entire premises. Having that post construction cleaning checklist helps not only to provide a professional guide to the cleaners but allows you, as the client, to fully understand how much will go into it and how thorough our teams were at getting out all that construction dirt and debris it.

It’s a much more efficient, cost-effective and safer alternative than attempting to use traditional cleaners or handling it yourself. So feel free to reach out to our professional team at Clear Choice UK, and we’ll get back a quote to you soon.
